Welcome to SitterLane. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully before using our services.

SitterLane is a platform that connects parents with teen babysitters in their community. We facilitate these connections but are not a party to any agreements made between parents and sitters.

Eligibility & Account Requirements

For Parents

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Are responsible for maintaining account security
  • Must have legal authority to hire childcare providers

For Teen Sitters

  • Must be between 14-19 years of age
  • Sitters aged 14–17 must have parental/guardian consent to use the platform
  • Adult sitters aged 18–19 do not require guardian consent and must submit TrustLine registration for manual review before accepting bookings
  • Must provide accurate information about qualifications and experience
  • Must comply with all applicable local labor laws

Age-Tiered Care Restrictions

Sitters are subject to age-based restrictions on the minimum age of children they may care for:

  • Sitters aged 14–15: May care for children 1 year and older
  • Sitters aged 16–19: May care for children 6 months and older

User Responsibilities

All Users Agree To:

  • Provide truthful, accurate, and complete information
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access
  • Use the platform only for lawful purposes
  • Treat all users with respect and professionalism
  • Not share personal contact information until a booking is confirmed
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations

Parents Additionally Agree To:

  • Verify the identity and qualifications of sitters before hiring
  • Provide safe working conditions for sitters
  • Compensate sitters fairly and promptly as agreed
  • Provide accurate information about children's needs
  • Be available by phone during all babysitting sessions

Sitters Additionally Agree To:

  • Arrive on time for all confirmed bookings
  • Provide attentive, responsible care to children
  • Follow all instructions provided by parents
  • Not cancel bookings without reasonable notice
  • Maintain any certifications claimed in their profile

Platform Policies

Booking & Cancellation

  • Bookings are agreements between parents and sitters; SitterLane is not a party
  • Cancellations should be made with at least 24 hours notice when possible
  • Repeated no-shows may result in account suspension
  • Disputes should first be resolved directly between parties

Reviews & Ratings

  • Reviews must be honest and based on actual experiences
  • Fake, defamatory, or retaliatory reviews are prohibited
  • We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate our policies
  • Users may not offer compensation for positive reviews

Content Guidelines

  • Profile photos must be appropriate and clearly show the user
  • No offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate content
  • No spam, advertising, or promotional content
  • We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms

Payments & Fees

Payment terms and any applicable fees will be clearly communicated before you commit to any paid services. Current policies include:

  • Payment arrangements are made directly between parents and sitters
  • SitterLane may charge platform fees for premium features
  • All fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated
  • We are not responsible for payment disputes between users

Prohibited Conduct

The following actions are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate account termination:

  • Providing false information or impersonating another person
  • Harassment, threats, or abusive behavior toward any user
  • Discrimination based on race, religion, gender, or other protected characteristics
  • Attempting to circumvent platform fees or policies
  • Sharing another user's personal information without consent
  • Using the platform for any illegal purpose
  • Attempting to access accounts or data without authorization
  • Interfering with the platform's operation or security

Limitation of Liability

SitterLane provides a platform for connecting parents with sitters but does not employ, endorse, or guarantee any sitter on the platform.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SITTERSQUAD SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM OR ANY SERVICES ARRANGED THROUGH IT.

Parents are solely responsible for verifying sitter qualifications and making hiring decisions. We strongly recommend conducting interviews, checking references, and running background checks before hiring any sitter.

Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

Your continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.
